Our Story (Why We Exist)
Hi, I’m Ashley, the creator of Modern Grief Services and I’ve been where you are.
When my father, Michael Samuel Glassman, died suddenly in 2023, my family was surrounded by incredible love and support. Yet even in the midst of that love, there were phone calls, paperwork, decisions, appointments, and countless responsibilities demanding attention while we were simply trying to grieve.
That experience taught me something I have never forgotten: the people who love us still want to help after someone dies. Modern life just doesn’t always give them the time.
Modern Grief Services was created to help fill that gap. Not by replacing family and friends; but by taking care of the practical details so they can simply focus on being family and friends.
The name reflects that mission. Grief is timeless, but the way families experience loss has changed. Families are busier, more geographically spread out, and balancing many responsibilities. Modern Grief Services provides the practical support needed during one of life’s most difficult transitions.
And there is one more meaning behind the name. M.G.S. are my father’s monogram: Michael Samuel Glassman. His kindness, generosity, and love for his family and community continue to guide me. Every family I have the privilege of serving, is in a small way part of honoring his memory.
